Privacy Policy

iPrepGenius ("we," "us") provides AI-personalized test-preparation tools for students in the United States and Canada. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed iPrepGenius to be safe for children and to comply with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and FERPA-aligned practices.
Who our accounts belong to
Accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian (or a school/educator). Child profiles are added by the account holder. Children do not create their own accounts.
Information we collect
- Account data: parent name, email, and a securely hashed password.
- Child profile data: first name (or nickname), grade, target test, and optional test date — entered by the parent.
- Learning data: practice answers, scores, streaks, and progress used to personalize practice.
- Technical data: basic, privacy-preserving usage and device information needed to operate the service.
We do not ask children for personal information beyond what is needed to provide practice.
How we use information
- To personalize practice and generate progress reports for the parent.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
- To send account-related email (e.g., password resets, weekly progress summaries you can turn off).
What we never do
- We never sell personal information — especially children's data.
- We never show third-party advertising to children.
- We do not use children's data to build advertising profiles.
AI features & providers
Some features — the AI tutor, practice explanations, and score-report analysis — are powered by third-party AI providers (currently Groq, OpenRouter, and Google) that process data on our behalf to generate a response. To do this we send only the minimum needed: typically a child's first name or nickname, grade, and target test, plus any content you or your child submit to an AI feature (for example, a question you ask the tutor, an essay you paste in, or a score report you upload).
We do not send full account identifiers, passwords, or payment details to these providers, and we do not use these features to serve advertising. These providers are contractually limited to processing data to return the requested result. AI features are optional — you can use the core practice engine without them.
Parental rights & control
The account holder can review, edit, or delete any child profile at any time from Settings. Deleting a child profile removes its learning data. You can also delete your entire account and erase all associated data — for you and every child — from Settings → Delete account (this is immediate and permanent). You may also email us at the address below for help.
Data retention & security
We keep data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Passwords are stored hashed. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
Service providers
We use trusted infrastructure providers (hosting, database, and email delivery) solely to operate the service. They process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations and may not use it for their own purposes.
